Been looking for a generator, but not sure which one to buy? What’s more important to you – economy? Portability? Durability? Perhaps you have heard of a few brand names while others are completely new to you? Some of the best generators on the market are featured at http://home-improvement.guru/best-portable-generators. I’m going to take a closer look at one of them – the Yamaha EF2000iSCH – in this review.

Tell me about it

This is a gas powered generator which will give you 1600 running watts with a maximum of 2000 watts. It is very lightweight (under 50 pounds) and very portable (it looks like a kind of briefcase with a handle). It will give you 10.5 hours of power running at 50% load and has an outdoorsy, camouflage-inspired design.

Is it right for my needs?

The lower power and higher portability mean that if you’re looking for a generator to power a big home during power outages, you will have most likely already decided this is not the generator for you. However, if you’re looking for something that’s easy to put in the truck or the boat and will give enable you to use power tools or outdoor party appliances, etc. for a good amount of time, the EF2000iSCH may be right up your street.

What are its pros?

I like the fuel efficiency that this Yamaha generator offers. Nobody wants to be worrying about having enough gas when they are out doing their thing and 10.5 hours at a 50% load is a great return for a generator of this size.

It’s a high quality unit with a nice design that’s easy for anyone to carry around. In fact, quite a few people have said that on longer outdoor trips, they have carried two of them. On top of that, this is also one of the quietest generators out there, so no need to worry about keeping the neighbors awake!

What are its cons?

The biggest drawback for some is simply the power of the thing. At a maximum of 2,000 watts you aren’t going to be able to plug in every appliance you have and just sit back and expect everything to work as normal. The EF2000iSCH serves a function – if you think you will need more power then don’t worry, there are plenty more to choose from!

Some have commented that it’s hard to start. You might want to practice this a few times at home rather than trying for the first time at sundown on the side of a mountain!

So, what’s the verdict?

As long as you buy this Yamaha Inverter-Generator for the right reasons, I don’t see why you wouldn’t be happy with it. It’s quiet, efficient and portable – just don’t ask it to power your entire house for a day!

Users on Amazon have written mostly good reviews about it, giving the generator an overall score of 4.5 out of a possible 5 stars. Hopefully this review has been useful to you and you’ll now know whether this generator is of interest to you or not!
